About the Role:

McAfee India, is looking for an experienced and self-motivated QA Manager with strong technical and QA background to actively manage exciting product releases. You will define test strategy, execute test plans, review product specifications, and define/select appropriate test tools and automation strategy.

As Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, you will lead a technically-driven team of 10-20 Software Engineers responsible for designing, developing and managing the test harnesses, test environments and testing to ensure our products meet the high quality standards of our most demanding customers.

Our ideal candidate for this position has a real passion for software testing and quality, loves problem solving, enjoys hands-on code development/programming, is a natural and experienced leader, and is currently in a QA or Development management role with a demonstrated track record for achieving measurable results. We’re looking for somebody whose ideal role includes an equal mix of traditional management activities, project management and personal technical contributions.

Desired Profile

Primary Responsibilities:

• Manage teams of Engineers to test McAfee products using code-based, functional, automated, white & black box, environmental, system and performance testing approaches.

• Achieve department goals for on-time product releases, test coverage, defect identification, test automation, performance, overall quality, etc.

• Plan, develop, implement and report on new testing methodologies to ensure ever-improving product quality.

• Assume ownership for and implement systems and processes to accomplish strategic goals of the organization.

• Resource allocation/optimization, hiring and planning activities.

• Manage growth and development of personnel including recruiting/hiring, career development, coaching/mentoring, conflict resolution, performance management and succession planning.

• Identify and promote industry best practices.

• Build and reinforce interdepartmental relationships by driving excellence in communication.

• Fully partner with Development, Support, Product Management and other cross-functional project teams to ensure people and processes deliver on project objectives.

• Lead and coordinate cross-departmental efforts to conduct root cause analysis of product issues and implement solutions that are then verified through testing.

• Assume a ‘mentor’ role for all staff.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

• 8-10 years of total Software Industry Experience.

• 3-5 years in a management role with direct reporting experience managing a team of technical QA Engineers and/or Software Developers including recruiting, mentoring and motivating a team to achieve continuous improvements and results.

• 3-5 years demonstrated hands-on experience in testing or developing web based applications with high transactional volume.

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Web Services, APIs, Test Automation, Performance Testing, Web Hosting infrastructure, Agile Methodology, White Box Testing.

Competencies / Skill sets required for the role:

• Must have a good knowledge of .NET framework and other Microsoft Technologies (Windows 2008 Servers and SQL Server 2008). Knowledge of Linux and/or Mac OS would be a plus.

• Strong background in Networking.

• A highly organized individual who works well under pressure to complete tasks to meet tight deadlines via strong time/task management skills.

• Strong interpersonal, communication, project management and organizational skills used in fast paced environment.
