Job Description QA Manager

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for execution of policies and plans and will oversee the QA team working on all testing of multiple Smarts products. S/he will provide the first line of management, focus on specific deliverables and results; effectively manage people, processes, and product integration and be responsible for hiring and performance. S/he will be responsible for day-to-day results for projects, closely working with the US-based QA & Development teams, resource assignment for functional test projects and setting project standards and short-term priorities. The QA Manager will ensure that projects & groups meet quality, productivity and performance standards and will participate in decisions regarding QA priorities, process and best practices.

Responsibilities:
• Provide overall QA team leadership.
• Evaluate requirements, prepare estimates and plan functional test projects.
• Review requirements and design for new features and develop test plans for functional testing.
• Manage team members to design test procedures and test beds.
• Prepare and manage project plans to ensure timeliness of project completion.
• Work with local & US-based developers to reproduce and troubleshoot software defects.
• Prepare test results documentation and maintain records of completed projects.
• Document and communicate functional test project plans to team members, management and external groups to ensure that testing is executed fully, risks are identified and managed and that software functions as specified.
• Work with System Test team to define requirements for test tools.
• Perform analysis of customer defects to identify deficiency in test plans and procedures, and enhance test coverage accordingly.
• Manage test lab resources, processes and test beds to conduct functional testing and to simulate customer production environment.
• Participate in Product requirements definition reviews and functional specification reviews to ensure that critical information is included, testability requirements are met and to begin planning QA.
• Supervise team members for better test efficiency and effectiveness. Ability to work through others, to make others productive.
• Mentor QA engineers to encourage best practices and thorough testing of software.
• Attract and hire employees and build a strong, cohesive team. Build and groom productive QA teams through training plans and coaching.

Experience & Skills:
• BE/BTech and 10+ years experience with software cycle & QA processes. Master’s degree preferred.
• 5 years test experience required. 4+ years of project/unit management or group leader role required.
• Experience in a software development and/or network management environment. Working knowledge of Network Administration concepts required.
• Expertise with Unix & Windows. Experience with Test Automation, Unix scripts & Perl a plus.
• Excellent communication, project management & problem solving skills.
• Experience working with US-based QA & Development teams a plus.
• Must be willing to travel to US on short trips (1-12 weeks) for training & project coordination.

Role:

* Provide leadership to a team of process facilitators and auditors
* Lead Process and Quality definition, implementation and training activities
* Front-end and coordinate for implementation and maintenance of Process tools
* Provide Subject matter expertise on Quality models(CMM, CMMi,Six sigma)
* Provide assessment of Engagement risks based on Audits. Highlight risks in the business delivery model for projects and practices. Facilitate risk assessment and mitigation sessions

Skills & Qualifications:

* 10+ years of total experience with at least 4 years of experience as an SQA, SEPG or BPA member
* Change management and leadership skills
* Strong exposure to CMM/CMMi and SDLC Methodologies
* Exposure to application of six sigma tools and techniques in services sector
* CSQA/BS7799 LA/ISO 9001:2000 LA/CIISA is preferred
* Exposure to GQM, CMMI, Balanced score card will be an added plus
